Our People

The people behind the work.

Anyone can list job duties. We'd rather you know who actually shows up on your project — where they came from, what they're great at, and why they've stayed.

President

Matthew Mitchell

Matthew has spent more than 25 years in the field and the front office, holding contractor licenses across multiple states and learning the business from the ground up.

As General Manager for the Tampa JOC operation, he built a reputation for setting realistic budgets and tracking work efficiency from the first day of a job to final closeout. That same discipline now guides Gibraltar as a whole.

Today, as President, Matthew keeps the company focused on the promise it has kept since 1972: do excellent work, price it fairly, and treat every client like the relationship is supposed to last decades — because most of them do.

Vice President

Bill Fairbanks

Bill has more than 30 years in the construction trades, 18 of them at Gibraltar — the kind of tenure that means he has built, fixed, or estimated nearly everything at least once.

He leads the preparation of bids for contracts and runs the company’s fleet program, keeping the equipment that gets work done where it needs to be.

Ask anyone on the crew and Bill is the institutional memory of the company — the person who knows how it has always been done and, just as often, how to do it better.

  • 30+ years in the trades
Vice President & Project Manager

Blaine Fairbanks

Before Gibraltar, Blaine served as Vice President of Operations at Landmark Property Services, where he learned how buildings actually get run once the contractors leave — knowledge that makes him a sharper builder today.

He is the person who finds the next opportunity and then makes the numbers work, leading the charge on new work, bid pursuits, and the contract negotiation, review, and execution that turn a handshake into a signed job.

Clients tend to remember Blaine because he is in the details early, when the right questions still have time to save money.

Vice President & Project Manager

Kevin Bohns

Kevin came to construction from an unusual direction: he started his career as an Industrial Hygienist in environmental consulting, trained to spot the risks other people miss.

That background shows in how he works. He owns bid preparation and document review, and he is the one coordinating projects with local, state, and federal agencies — the paperwork-heavy, compliance-heavy work that keeps a job legal, safe, and moving.

On a Gibraltar team, Kevin is the steady hand that makes sure nothing important falls through the cracks.

  • Bid preparation
  • Regulatory coordination
  • Compliance & safety
Vice President & Project Manager

Nathan Nelson

Nathan has spent more than 15 years at Gibraltar — long enough to have a personal stake in the company’s reputation and a deep bench of subcontractors who know exactly what he expects.

He runs project management across a wide range of jobs, with particular strength in subcontractor management and building the schedules that keep everyone pulling in the same direction.

When a project needs someone who has seen the problem before and already knows the fix, Nathan is usually that someone.

Vice President

Abena Bentsil

Abena brings a designer’s eye to the builder’s job. With a degree in architecture and a construction management certification, she understands a project from the first sketch to the final punch list.

She directs project management on jobs large and small, coordinating hiring and vendor management so that the right people and the right materials show up at the right time.

It is a rare combination — design literacy paired with operational grit — and it makes Abena one of Gibraltar’s most versatile leaders.

  • Project management
  • Architecture & design
  • Vendor management
